WEEK IN REVIEW: Off to North Korea...

Not much to review this week... two things to preview though: Big Brother's second practice is tomorrow -- the first on real fields -- and a few Beijingers are going to North Korea for an Ultimate tournament. Will check in after we get back on Tuesday.

I'll be tied up with a writing assignment for a couple weeks, so expect this blog to be silent for the duration.

WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Thrombosis, veins, and mini-hulk earns his nickname

Tuesday: Uh-oh, Joe! Thrombosis, and such.
Friday: Joe's drinks night at Let's Seafood. Kevin's parents still in town. Also, Stumble Inn first-year anniversary.
Saturday: Chaoyang Park: first Big Brother practice of fall season.
Sunday: Something...

Joe's arm puffed up. It was scary. He's gonna have to go back to the States to get that fixed via surgery...

WEEK IN REVIEW: Faces of summer league

God we're all still hung over. Wait, what day is it? Not Sunday? Okay, nevermind. I'm okay. Alex is okay. Ginny is (maybe) okay. We're all okay.

PICTURES OF THE WEEK:

Can you guess which of the following people is hung over? (From summer league finals on Saturday.)

A year ago, if I told you Matt Mueller would not be one of the answers to the above question, would you believe me?

And what if I told you Ivan, making a special Beijing appearance, would be, having nearly died the day before drinking baijiu with Alex and Ginny?

Change is a strange beast.

GOOGLE GROUPS POST OF THE WEEK:

Tao, 8/19: Subj: Fantasy football:

Who's in?

Gonna start a standard-setting yahoo league with a live online draft, for fun. Let me know ...

p.s. Only join if you enjoy fantasy sports and don't mind losing to me.

WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Summer league champs: The Weasleys

Congratulations to The Weasleys, champions of Beijing Ultimate Summer League 2011.

The Weasleys, however, lost its final regular-season game to The Raging Boehners and needed a soft-capped victory by Fei Pan Da over Fuzz Bullets to enter finals. Once there, both teams fought hard for the championship, but The Weasleys wanted it a little more and prevailed 13-10.

More pictures on Renren here, via Wang Yao.

More pictures will be posted later this week as well.

Afterwards, we went to Kro's Nest, and much later, Kevin's show at Luga's. I may or may not have gotten really drunk because it was my birthday.

WEEK IN REVIEW: On this, the eve of BUSL 2011 finals...

Andrew Moffat, better known as Baby Girl, dares speak with this video. Watch it.

PICTURES OF THE WEEK:

From Week 5 ... yes, that's Shan Wu making a guest appearance!

GOOGLE GROUPS POST OF THE WEEK:

This is actually pretty good: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjkyNDIzMzI0.html

The last clip is from Shanghai Open though: me to Alex.

Everything else: I think Baby Girl is trying to say Fuzz Bullets are going to crush Fei Pan Da to make it to the finals of Beijing Ultimate Summer League 2011.

RETROSPECTIVE: Farewell to the Ascott

Not too long ago, Ellen Wong (right) moved out of her Ascott apartment for good. This post is to commemorate the place. An room with thinner walls would have gotten her kicked out of the building much sooner.
